A two week Faculty Development Program 08/12/2014 To 19/12/2014

A two week Faculty Development Program from 8th Dec -19th Dec 2014 was organised by Entrepreneurship Development Cell, MNIT Jaipur with support of National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), DST, GOI. Prof. Awadhesh Bharadwaj, was the chief coordinator, Prof. G.S. Dangayach and Dr. Monica Sharma were the coordinators for the event. In their inaugural address the importance of educational institution in developing entrepreneurship was discussed. They narrated how MNIT is playing an important role in giving support to institutions in Jaipur in establishing & nurturing entrepreneurship among students. The programme had 20 participants from various engineering colleges. Participants learnt insights about nurturing entrepreneurship in the younger generation by various experts from academia and industries.
The FDP covered the whole gamut of entrepreneurship right from traits, competencies of entrepreneurship, training, role of support agencies, market survey, preparing business plan, venture capital & marketing in small businesses. Prof. Bhardwaj talked about emerging trends and role of DST in promoting Entrepreneurship. Insights about the role, tasks & challenges along with skills required to be an effective trainer for creating entrepreneurs were shared by Dr. D.K. Sharma. Prof. Dangayach highlighted the importance of quality and various other aspects of business while developing an idea. Principles of goal setting, motivation and risk taking were taught through various games by Dr. Rakesh Mittal. Mr A.K. Laddha, Joint Director (Industry) taught how to identify the business opportunities & the role of entrepreneurship in country's economy. Prof. S.K. Batra threw light on the communication & behavioural aspect of entrepreneurship. Touching the issue of sustainability, Mr. Deepak Gupta & Mr. Vijay Singhal, Sr. Environmental engineer, Rajasthan Pollution control board talked about energy saving, pollution control along with non conventional energy sources. Prof. Rakesh Jain interacted with participants on importance of creativity and how to go for out of box thinking for problem solving. Prof. Dilip Sharma threw light on importance of IPR & patent registration in SSI. Financial Management and its different aspects in business were shared by Dr. Rajesh Kothari. Prof. A.P.S. Rathore shared the principles of marketing for success of small businesses. FDP also included an industrial visit to Manu Yantralya at Sitapura, Jaipur. All the participants were interacted with first generation successful entrepreneurs, Mr. Ajay Gupta and Mr. Y.K. Gupta. Dr. Monica Sharma discussed about developing curriculum for entrepreneurship development in various institutes. The programme was concluded with the presentation by participants about their learning, feedback from the participants and distribution of certificates to participating faculty members from various institutes.
